IOM (Integrated Offender Management) Scarborough and Ryedale has been presented with the 'Team of the Year, Yorkshire and Humber'' award at a prestigious awards ceremony held at the Metropole Hotel in Leeds.
Paddy Chandler, Criminal Justice Team Leader, believes that co-locating within IOM and establishing and sustaining new and innovative ways of working with key partners has been the biggest challenge for the Criminal Justice team over the last year and states that "the whole team has gone that extra mile to make this work. To get recognition for this is something the whole team are very proud of. The award serves to back up the belief that this is a successful means of tackling substance misuse and reoffending".
At the awards ceremony the it was stated that "The Integrated Offender Management Team in Scarborough has been together for just over a year and in that time have developed into a professional and effective multi-agency team. Their commitment is high and their is evidence that offenders are beginning to see the benefits of working in this collaborative way. Strong co-operation between OM's IPT staff, Police and The Cambridge Centre has lead to a 38% reduction in the re-offending rate amonst the control group between November 2009 and May 2010".
The team are now nominated for the 'National Team of the Year'.
